French term
gommette

I found the word in a list of materials to be used in an activity with children...
Matériel requis :
Papier, crayons, petits cartons et grand carton, gommette
I'm almost sure it is like a kind of "paste" you use to stick posters to the walls, but I have no idea how to call that in English. I also think the idea of this gommette is that you can stick it but then take it of clean... I might be wrong though...
Thanks for your help!

My children have always received a bonbon from the traditional doctor, but gommettes from the homeopathic doctor here in France. They are tiny coloured stickers representing geometrical shapes, animals, toys, etc.

: These are called "autocollants". See, for example: http://www.staples.ca/FRA/Catalog/cat_sku.asp?CatIds=&webid=...

Hello Germaine: I agree that autocollant is a synonym and a correct French translation of sticker, but gommette is not wrong! They are the same thing.

Sticky Labels
Sticky Labels are waterproof, microwave and dishwasher safe. They are made from durable polyester material that does not easily tear and perform well in a wide range of temperatures. These washable labels have a permanent adhesive that adheres well on many surfaces and can be put under water and rubbed without smearing. Use them to label your kids belongings such as bottles, cups, lunch boxes, etc. These labels are white and come in three sizes. You can choose two font types in six different colors with up to four names and clip art selections per sheet. You can have two lines of information up to 20 characters each.

Blu-Tack
Only medium confidence as the others could also be right. However, if your context gives good reason to think it's the blobs of putty-like substance, then this would be what we call it in English.
I have some "Scotch Fixe Tout" pâtes adhésives amovibles; gomme de fixation in my desk.
Of course, Blu-Tack is a brand name, but there doesn't seem to be a generic name for it. See this interesting discussion:

I'm not even sure of a generic name in English. I mean the sticky stuff that people use to put up posters etc. It is usually blue or white. ...

The kids call it "gommette", probably to distinguish from "gomme" (eraser). But this is the product:

Helen Chauveau
: I think French Canadians use 'gommette' differently to the French in France.
