Still in the context of my 2 other questions re. hair coloring techniques/looks, this is a good example of how the terms mentioned earlier (balayage, strands, streaks...) get confusing.
As part of a step by step highlighting suggestion, the French reads:
"Tracer un triangle partant à 5 cm du front sur la raie et réaliser des voiles dans le tombé de la mèche."
(As I suspected, and your answers to my other question confirmed, sometimes "mèches" means streaks, sometimes strands.)
I'm having trouble making the whole phrase seem natural in English. "Voile" here seems to mean strand or streak too. But, primarily, I'm not content w/ "the fall of the hair/strands."
Sorry to be confusing, but it's been a long day full of fancy hair care terms that make me want to close up my computer and schedule an appointment at a salon way beyond my means!!
Any suggestions for the phrase? Or overall meaning. (I have a diagram, so in my mind, I get it...natural wording eludes me.)

In this context, "la mèche" is the fringe.
My hairdresser often says that I can come in and get my "mèche" cut any time.

Another thought, and perhaps the correct one, is to use the literal definition of 'voile': veil. This would suggest producing a sort of veil effect (by colouring/streaking the surface/outer strands of hair)
