Closing note It seems as though the writer is over-fonc of the verb "purger" and I think that it simply means cleaning and removing loose render from the outside of the chimney stacks. I should have mentioned, for context, that this is a block of flats. There is nothing to indicate cleaning of flues and the chimney stacks seem to be disused.

Try "clearing". In an industrial situation, it could just mean clearing out the stacks and the conduits. Using blowers or something. If it's a house, then I'm lost here.

@rcolin I thought that my mention of chimney stacks made it clear that was what this relates to. Chimney stacks are not generally very mechanical. ;)
