Solenoid valve test proce
To keep to the rules, I've picked a couple of words at random from the following sentence. I really need help in deciphering the following. We're talking about a 'platen' or baseplate on which are mounted sveral solenoid valves. Holes have been machined in the base as conduits for the gases that are being delivered through the SVs (EV). Your help would be much appreciated.

Not quite sure how to express it, but that's certainly my reading of the basic idea here; in maths etc. we do talk about 'bounds' too, but I'm not sure if that would work here.

As I see it, a hole has been drilled / machined in this plate at an angle, such that when it emerges at the surface, its cross-section is elliptical rather than circular. And the housing or whatever it is that fits over this opening has to have a diameter at least as big as the major axis of this ellipse — logical, as anything else would restrict the flow.
PS: not at all sure about the choice of 'platen' here??

I think you could probably just say soemthing like "when the decision was being taken, the minimum internal diameter of the housing was set as..."
I don't really quite see where all that 'choix' bit comes into it, but perhaps your overall document makes it clearer.

| Not bad for this time of night. I started with platen early on in the document, might in fact use baseplate, although elsewhere they use 'embase' for the same thing. Platen for me is a large flat plate, often with holes in to which are fastened other items, in this case solenoid valves. If you have any further thoughts, I'll read them in the morning. Antibiotics and inhalers for bronchitis starting to have an effect. |
