Explanation: early aircraft used wingwarping for flight control instead of ailerons. The French has preserved this obsolete term (gauchissment).

twisted cables

Hi, I looked up 'gauchissement' and found twisted... I see ''twisted cables'' often in patents in regards to aircrafts and aerospace, eg:

However, I'm not sure it is what you are looking for. Hopefully it will help...

tension line Source câble de tension Source CORRECT, MASC

tendeur Source MASC

câble porteur de charge Source MASC

disagree christian landais : Check real ATA Component Maintenance Manuals. Termium is a compilation of anything under the sun (shines randomly too)

like a number of other flight controls, the aileron will surely contribute to correct roll

change notice

I would not swear on that one, especially as roll cables have not much to do with ATA chapter 63 (the first two digits after that CN).

aileron cables

(b) A 125 percent factor on computed hinge moments must be used to design elevator,* aileron*, and rudder systems. However, a factor as low as 1.0 may be used if hinge moments are based on accurate flight test data, the exact reduction depending upon the accuracy and reliability of the data.

Aircraft control system failure, aircraft rudder cable failure, aileron cable failure

I'm only guessing based on the links.
