French term
PREL SOL
French to English
Bus/Financial
Accounting
Tax form
Just one last question on this tax form! It seems to me that PREL SOL must stand for prélèvement du solde, so (automatic) deduction of the balance (right?), but I haven't found confirmation of this. Here's its appearance in an individual income tax form (France):
[column at left:]
PRELEVEMENTS SOCIAUX
Détail des revenus
Revenus fonciers nets
BASE IMPOSABLE
Taux de l'imposition
Montant de l'imposition
[columns at right:] CSG-CRDS / PREL SOL
[figures appear below these two headers]
I hope that's enough context; I don't feel comfortable sending an image in this case.

Hi François, this has to be it but I'm just going to leave the question open for a bit in case any more useful discussion happens. Thanks! |

Solidarity Day deduction
The Solidarity Day ("journée de solidarité") is a day that French workers work for free, to provide funds for seniors and some other group of people I forget for the moment. I had the term in the last few days in a contract of employment.
And PREL = prélèvement = deduction

Of course if you're trying to fit these terms into a table, you will probably have to abbreviate them and put explanations of the abbreviations above or below the table.

Note from asker:
Thanks for the input, Connor - I went with plain old "solidarity tax," since that was the best solution for my purpose. |

: Regardless of how it is raised, this 'Prélèvement de Solidarité' is tax withdrawn from French people's incomes.

If you're not worried about using words precisely, you may as well give up translation, in fairness. I don't think that's a harsh comment.
