English term
ran up to her hat
English

Poetry & Literature
Valina stood frozen in fright. The spider took advantage of her motionless state and quickly ran up to her hat, from where it hopped over onto the window-ledge again.
(In the beginning the spider sits on Valina's shoulder, having fallen there from the window-ledge).
Dear native English speakers!
Please advise on the phrase. It seems to me that it doesn't sound well enough, but I'm not really sure, since I'm no NES.
I'll appreciate any suggestions.
This is my translation from Russian.

: It might depend on whether her fear is being portrayed as justified or as overreacting. In the US, at least, scuttle has a slightly uglier connotation than scurry.

Really? I don't think that's so in the UK.

Thank you. The original said "quickly ran", so I don't think that would fit.

scuttled up onto her hat
I think "ran" is okay, but "scuttled" is the kind of thing you often hear used with unpleasant creatures like spiders!
