During my very public divorce in 2002, a controversy erupted around the perks that made up my retention contract, and the media had a field day.

What is a retention contract? Something related to a divorce?

contract to remain in work-related position. Some perks were exposed that probably made the author look greedy.

We don't know whether or not it is related to the divorce per se... Other than when the diviorce occured and the perks in the contract becaume public. Thank you.

retaining (keeping) of certain assets after divorce

It could be the part of the marriage contract where certain assets (money, jewellry, stocks, inheritance) can not be divided to benefit the other party after the divorce.
Eg.: A cottage that is a the husband's inheritance canl not be transfered to the wife.
OR Family heirlooms inherited by the wife will be kept in the possesion of the wife does not matter what...

Nowhere did Poj (who is from Thailand) mentions that this text is from the USA. In most countries vmarriage contract is the common name of:cohabitation agreement,prenup,prenuptial agreement,prenuptual agreement,premarital agreement,antemarital agreement
