For example, an IPO by a portfolio of (fund's name).
I recommended using "a portfolio company" as my client didn't like "an investee," but they insist venture capitalists in the States use the word "portfolio" to also mean individual company in a portfolio. Is this true?

I've been trying to persuade them that it's a wrong usage, but somehow they are so stubborn and confident about it.
