what does 'down wind' refer to in the the folowing context:

Small Spills: Isolate 300 feet in all directions, protect persons down wind 0.2 miles during day and 0.8 miles at night

in the direction the wind is blowing

in case of a chemical spill, etc., the people downwind are the ones who are in the direction the wind will blow the poison.
