honorarios
If you are paying a fee for **professional** services, you would use the term *honorarios*
Here is the entry from the Oxford Superlex on fees:
fee / fi: / n
1 a (payment — to doctor, lawyer, architect) honorarios mpl; (—
to actor, singer) caché m, cachet m; what are your fees?
¿cuáles son sus honorarios? (frml), ¿cuánto cobra?
b (charge) (often pl): on payment of a small fee pagando una
pequeña suma or cantidad, por una módica suma;
entrance fee (precio m de) entrada f; examination fee(s)
derecho(s) m(pl) de examen; membership fee(s) cuota f
(de socio); registration fee(s) matrícula f
Please note: *tarifa* is used to distinguish price by **rates** (for instance, postal or electrical rates), from prices per item.

honorarios o tarifa
Depende del tipo de servicio. Por ejemplo, si se tratara de servicios profesionales,yo pondria "honorarios".

TARIFA - CARGO
TARIFA IS MORE A FIXED CHARGE FOR A SERVICE.

I agree with the above answers...
but:
fees for professional services are honorarios, which is the generic term... of course, there can be a tarifa or a cargo...
but, if you are talking about fees that are charged by government agencies for services (such as filing an application, obtaining a license, etc.), then the _correct_ term (at least in Mexico) would be "derechos".
Best of luck!

Otra posibilidad...
"Comisión"
Es lo que usa en terminología bancaria por ejemplo. Es lo que cobra un banco por distintos tipos de servicios adicionales a la cuenta.
También lo he visto en el caso de aerolíneas, por ejemplo, cuando cobran una comisión (fee) por cambiar la reservación original, por ejemplo.
De verdad depende del contexto y del servicio del que estés hablando.
Espero se sirva de algo.

In Argentina we make a difference between honorario, cachet , and arancel;
honorario is what a profesional charges
cachet is what an actor charges
and arancel is what you pay for a service rendered, in general it has to do with the state. Good Luck!!
Definition :a charge made for professional services, eg by a doctor or lawyer.
German: Gebühr (f)
