Hola,

¿me podría decir alguien qué significa esta expresión?

Contexto: Tres soldados están haciendo una redada en un lugar y se preguntan dónde está otro, que está desaparecido. Como en su grupo hay un topo, uno de ellos sospecha que podría ser el que falta y se lo comenta al capitán, pero éste responde:

"I'm not going to hang a label on any of my men until I know for sure."
Entonces el tercero dice:
"Not to piss in the punch bowl here but it isn't this a bit beside the point right now? Begging your pardons, I mean, ya'll being senior to a lowly staff sergeant."
