Designations of service in our industry The description everyone has given seems to connote what we in the U.S. have called 'escort interpreting'/'interpretacion acompanada' (pardon the lack of diacritics), but I'd appreciate any clarification that someone could offer. For this Query, I'm fine with '...de enlace' when the source term is '...liason'.

si, claro, pero ... the asker seems to be asking in English for an explanation of an English term in the ProZ interface. This leaves an ambiguity: did the asker want to know the Spanish term, or simply want clarification of the English term? <br>(all the more unclear when first posted, given that the question was originally posted as Spanish to English).

Translation is translation! The Asker is translating a CV/Prospectus (his/her own) for profitable purposes. I submit that this is a very useful, professional level term query that any of us may apply in reaching our prospective clients in their own language.

it's two-way working where the interpreter works in both directions between two or more participants (unlike simultaneous and consecutive interpreting, which are generally unidirectional). other names for it include business interpreting, meeting interpreting.

Liaison interpreting is a form of consecutive interpreting, which is to some extent the most personal and informal type of interpreting. It is used principally for small groups or meetings (e.g. a business meeting between two executives)

A very slightly different take on the exact scope of the term from the ITI, which treats business/liaison interpreting as separate from court/public service interpreting -
"Liaison, business and ad hoc interpreting are more or less synonyms for interpreting in a business setting, e.g. during meetings with foreign partners or customers, contract negotiations, factory tours or the like."

My examples of course are from Europe. As Richard points out in the discussion area above (you may need to click on "Show discussion"), other terms for the same activity are in use in the USA, which I guess was why the term didn't mean much to you in the first place.
