He encontrado un excelente artículo que quizás te ayude. Lo que no puedo encontrar es el equivalente de la palabra "seat", que quizás se refiera a "inicial" o "de base", pero como no estoy segura prefiero no ponerlo. Ahí va el artículo:

Setting Up the Injector Program
Reducing the delay-volume mode is done using the WAIT and VALVE BYPASS
commands in the injector program. The time defined for the WAIT command
must be sufficient to ensure all of the sample has passed through the needle, needle-seat capillary and injection valve. Therefore, the WAIT time programmed in the injector program is dependent on flow rate and injection volume.
Así pues "seat" se referiría al término "needle-seat" que se traduce como "asiento de la válvula de aguja" (Diccionario politécnico de las lenguas española e inglesa, 2ª Ed.).
