Progression time, contact time, e-learning packages

This (small) college had faced considerable difficulties in implementing Curriculum 20008 and had addressed these difficulties by both 'teaching' and 'progression' time on each of its courses. Progression time is time spent using e-learning packages under the supervision of a learning technology assistant, and typically amounts to around half the contact time for the programme. Thus the college had been able to reduce its lecturer hours considerably for the same student volume, and had used the released resource to meet the demands of Curriculum 2000.
