Discussion

Polangmar Dec 22, 2009:
Ref. A solution of sodium in liquid ammonia consists of the electride salt [Na(NH3)x]+ e-, associated with the intense blue color of these solutions. The solvated electrons add to the aromatic ring to give a radical anion. The added alcohol supplies a proton to the carbanion, for most substrates ammonia is not acidic enough.

An electride is an ionic compound in which an electron is the anion. The first electrides to be studied in depth were solutions of alkali metals in ammonia. When sodium metal dissolves in ammonia, the result is a blue solution consisting of [Na(NH3)6]+ and solvated electrons.

Solvation, also sometimes called dissolution, is the process of attraction and association of molecules of a solvent with molecules or ions of a solute. As ions dissolve in a solvent they spread out and become surrounded by solvent molecules.

redukcja za pomocą roztworzonego metalu

propozycja
reakcja zachodzi pod wpływem metalu (sodu, potasu lub litu) roztworzonego w ciekłym amoniaku ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Birch_reduction )

disagree Polangmar : Nie chodzi tu o roztwarzanie, lecz o solwatację: http://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roztwarzanie , http://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solwatacja ; Solvation, also sometimes called dissolution... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solvation
