Different from noon in 'clock time', solar noon describes when the sun is at its zenith, or apex of its path through the sky. Solar noon varies within +/-15 clock minutes of clock time throughout the year.

"solar noon" is the point of culmination of the Sun. This is generally referred to as "南中時刻".

: Hiromasa is right here; although 正午 would be the most literal translation of 'noon', in the case of solar noon we are talknig about positioning of the sun. 正午 signifies 'midday' and therefore doesn't refer to location of the sun.
