Ciao a tutti,
sto traducendo un libro per bambini. All'inizio c'è tutta una parte dedicata ai genitori e all'importanza di leggere le fiabe ad alta voce ai propri figli. Ad un certo punto l'autore parla del fatto che i genitori devono avere fantasia e imparare a pensare in modo elastico e non convenzionale. Poi dice : "gli psicologi descrivono questo tipo di pensiero come divergente o *open-ended*". A qualcuno di voi è mai capitato di trovare questo termine? Esiste un termine specifico? Secondo voi, tradurre con qualcosa del tipo 'aperto' appiattirebbe il senso del termine inglese?
Vi riporto un po' di testo:
"Imagination and creativity, inextricably linked, enter into every aspect of life. All creative acts start in the imagination of their creator - to be creative, you must be imaginative. This means that you must learn to think up your own ideas and be flexible rather than conventional in your thinking. Psychologists describe this kind of thinking as divergent or open-ended, in that it opens up new possibilities instead of homing in on a single right answer."

: basta sapere dove cercarli questi termini sottili ..... :-) intendevo solo dire che non é propriamente vero che l'italiano ne sia carente........in ogni caso, nel MIO caso, li cerco al limite da mia madre, olim docente di lettere italiane.....

per quanto riguarda i termini di filosofia e scienze sociali, l'inglese e il tedesco sono più "versatili", non volevo sminuire la lingua italiana...

This would be my suggestion Maura ... the only direct hits on google refer to open-ended questions, which is a commonly known term... but nothing which fits your context.
Some definitions on the google 'define' function are:
without fixed limits or restrictions; "an open-ended discussion"
allowing for a spontaneous response; "an open-ended question"
allowing for future changes or revisions; "open-ended agreements"
