slotting tool
The slotting tool is designed to leave no tool overlap marks and eliminate a secondary deburring operation.
The slotting tool is an upgrade of the conventional slotting tool XXX and provided with **sheetsavers** on both sides (for the 3-1/2” and 4-1/2” sizes).
The new tool improves material yield, reduces interference with extruded and other formed features, and adapts to PDC machines.
Carefully read the operating methods, adjusting methods, and cautions described in this manual, and fully understand them before using the slotting tool.
Be sure to observe the safety rules, the warnings and cautions in the other parts of this manual.
Place this manual at the machine so that it can be reread by users of the machine and the slotting tool whenever they want to do so.
NOTE
The slotting tool (3-1/2” and 4-1/2”) registration cannot be used together with the **sheetsaver** (nesting) setting.
Slotting tools thus must be assigned as slotting tools XXX.
If a slotting tool is assigned near a workclamp, an alarm may be displayed, but it can be programmed.
In such a case, perform an override confirmation operation or take any other remedial measure on the machine side.

IMHO: The sheet is here saved in the sense it is protected against unintended marks inflicted by the tool. I would suggest also "protezione lamiera".
This is of course taking for granted we are dealing with a steel (or other metal) sheet. Since plastics (extruded) is also mentioned, you might want to keep more general and call it "proteggi-pezzo"
