This is a text about DES (drug eluding stents). I have a hard time understanding, where die additions of "leaving BMS" stems from.

"Polymer wird innerhalb von 40 bis 60 Tagen absorbiert, wobei ein BMS zurückbleibt".
DE-Stents (DES) = Drug Eluting Stents (not Drug EluDing Stents!) sind Medikamenten-freisetzende Stents, die mit einem Polymer beschichtet sind und ein Medikament enthalten. Wenn das Polymer absorbiert wird (wie dies hier der Fall zu sein scheint, bleibt ein BMS, d. h. ein unbeschichteter Stent (Bare Metal Stent) zurück.
(Etwas mehr Kontext wäre allerdings zur genauen Erklärung des Vorgangs sehr hilfreich gewesen.)

würde ich sagen.
Nach Absorption der Beschichtung bleiben nur die unbeschichteten Streben (*struts*) über, wie ein BMS eben..
Results of animal studies have determined that the drug/polymer coating is cleared from the stent in 45 to 60 days leaving a bare metal stent and the polymer is completely absorbed into the surrounding tissue in 90 days to promote long-term patency and compatibility with the artery.
