English term

a tab is missing from the jig

English to German Tech/Engineering Manufacturing Lean Manufacturing
From a slide presentation about Lean Manufacturing. This slide describes the process of finding errors and eliminating them:

- Why doesn’t this part fit together?
- Because the holes aren’t aligned.
- Why aren’t the holes aligned?
- Because the parts were mislocated.
- Why were the parts mislocated?
- Because the welder isn’t using both alignment pins on the fixture.
- Why isn’t the welder using both alignment pins?
- Because the second pin won’t fit.
- Why won’t the second pin fit?
- Because ***a tab is missing from the jig***.

There are no pictures or any other occurrences of the terms "tab" and "jig" in this presentation. Any techie out there who knows what machine this could be and the German names of these parts?

Thanks in advance!

A tab is usually a small flat piece of metal that sticks out from the main body of whatever it is attached to.

A jig, in this sense, is some sort of fixture, usually for holding a workpiece that is being tested or, in your case, welded.

It might be a Spannvorrichtung, Halte... or whatever. I used Befestigungs... because it appears that you are holding the workpiece in some sort of position.

So much for my insight from the USA.
