I can't read the other ProZ - Croatian etc-vs. Spanish - answers, so don't know if a 'mention' is properly understood in Anglo vs. Irish civil or criminal procedure. It is consideration or disposal of minor, general and administrative (abwicklungstechnischen) matters pre-trial. It is not actually the main hearing but anticipates such.
In Australia, the meaning arguably shifts to a first appearance in a criminal trial, namely establishing what kind of plea the accused alias defendant intends to enter: guilty or not guilty.
