English term

save a vacate customer

English to German Bus/Financial Human Resources
Currently our walk-in channel accounts for 50% of our move-ins, while our phone and web channel both account for
25% of our move-ins. However, we mustn’t forget that there is in fact a 4th channel impacting occupancy that may
get overlooked; our move-outs. Not only should we always be aware of this channel but it’s important to understand that our leavers can go in one of two directions. They can either become an actual move out, or they can become what we ultimately want, a “save a vacate”, or transfer customer.

@Jonathan crazy what people come up with .... - unfortunately mostly in English speaking countries
Jonathan MacKerron Dec 18, 2012:
sounds like the mean "not to have to terminate a client/save a position", though the whole thing is a bunch of codswollop IMHO.

Which business? "Vacate a cutomer" could be the process related to a customer's decision not to do business with that company anymore. See here: http://www.tredd.com/unitdetail.html (end of page). However, as it costs time to set up a customer account, close and reopen it if the customer returns, they can save themselves the trouble (save the vacate) if they transfer the customer to somewhere else, another business / shop / ... This seems to be what they want, transfer the customer to somewhere else within their business or whatever rather than lose him/her.
