The word "bacteria" is derived from the Greek "bakterion" meaning "little stick", diminutive of "baktron". The Ancient Greeks did not have a word for what we call "bacteria" because they were unaware of the existence of microorganisms.

Vous avez tous tort ! Où est votre culture? Bacterion est le pluriel grec de bactéries. Etes-vous tous nuls à ce point-là ? Je ne voulais pas le croire tant que je ne l'avais pas vu. Inutile de tenter de vous défendre, je ne vous croirais pas. ;-))
Autre exemple : Sing = criteria, Plur = criterion

: Indeed, I wouldn;t go as far as "Ancient Greek". Latin and Modern Greek would suffice. Βακτήριο (Vactiri-o)/Βακτήρια (Vactiri-a).

Vous avez tous raison ! Désolée, j'ai inversé les 2 cas. Ma seule excuse : ai veillé 76 heures pour finir 3 jobs. Du coup, là j'ai dormiu + de 12 h et je suis complètement "dans le cirage". Vous avez tous raison. Navrée
