English term

power of attorney

English to French Law/Patents Business/Commerce (general)
Hello!

I checked the glossary, but it says "procuration" and I'm not quite sure whether it's appropriate or not. In my case, it's about authorizing other parents to take care of their child temporarily.
Is there any equivalent in French? I'm in need of a sample document also.

Merci beaucoup!

John ANTHONY Jun 22, 2007:
Sylvie Updegraff Jun 22, 2007:
Yes, I would also say procuration ou pouvoir.
Nadine Kahn (asker) Jun 22, 2007:
It's supposed to be the title. It isn't included in the text.

If you have not got your answer from the asker notes, you need to paste in the actual text so that we can have a look at the precise context

http://www.publiclegaled.bc.ca/section.asp?catid=139&subid=1...
Monique Laville Jun 22, 2007:
I would say procuration or pouvoir too.
John ANTHONY Jun 22, 2007:
Procuration ou Pouvoir
Nadine Kahn (asker) Jun 22, 2007:
Not necessarily to another "parent", but to another person.
Nadine Kahn (asker) Jun 22, 2007:
Hi! :) It's used to transmit all rights of a parent to another parent "attorney-in-fact". I have the English version, but I'm confuzzled about the French equivalent. Mainly, it's about decisions about the medical care for their minor child in a foreign country.
Sokratis VAVILIS Jun 22, 2007:
a power of attorney enables your legal representative to do something on your behalf. In this case, this is a procuration.
In your document, who gives the authorisation? for what reason this power of attorney is used?
Nadine Kahn (asker) Jun 22, 2007:
