SR只表示輩分﹐即一個家庭中兩個姓名相同的人中的長輩。中文的“老”正好與此對應。這個老並不一定說明這個人年齡很大﹐SR 和JR﹐通常就用“老”和“小”來翻譯。

Senior是相对于Junior的，比如下面ADELLEBJ提到的，为区分长辈晚辈，长辈名前加Sr. （senior的缩写），晚辈则加Jr.（junior的缩写）；
还有一种情况，就是在国外的公司内，碰到同事之间同名的，也用 Sr （代表年长的一位）和 Jr （年轻的一位）来区分。
