Dutch term
Uitpekelen
Dutch to English
Science
Cooking / Culinary
Not much context but a PP slide of factory cheese in a basin of water. The previous slide was describes as: Automatische inpekelen (pickled) and the following slide is described as: Automatische uitpekelen. I suppose it means lowering the pickling content (salt etc. by immersing the cheese in water), but what is the English term?

desalinate
... have to go ....
Volgens mij is het pekelen 'to brine'
Desalinate zou een optie kunnen zijn

removal from salt solution
just a guess. Doesn't seem to be part of the actual cheese-making process according to this job description:
Medewerker Natrijpingscel in Schoonrewoerd
Baaninformatie
Taken:
Het uitpekelen, transporteren, banderolleren, schmieren en plastificeren en afleveren van de kaas.
Not sure if 'pickling ' is the right term in cheesemaking. Find more hits for 'salt solution':

Salting (the curds or cheese may be salted by adding salt or immersing the cheese in a salt solution, ie a brine)

: Looks like that's what it means, yes. Instead of 'salt solution', 'salt bath' is also used a lot.

I don't see cheese among the list but you can pickle in brine, wasn't totally convinced either hence the "3" rating
