I just propose an idea of a possible POWWOW in Hangzhou, since there is no China(Chinese) in the list, however I think it is still earlier for such a meeting since we are all very busy.

sorry, should be ...Ƚ...
Denyce Seow May 2, 2004:
Sounds fair enough... :) You're the translator, so you're in the best position to pick the word that suits the context better.

Are you organising another POWWOW in Hangzhou??? Cool......... Do let me know more about it, okay??? :)
Non-ProZ.com May 2, 2004:

Denyce "ڲ" ǺһȽϵ˵.Literally,"discomfort in women's (Physiological) Periods" "Period discomfort", "discomfort menstruation" "menstrual discorfort" are all "all right" for"ڲ" . As for "menstruation" , sometimes or for some women (or men) they would feel a little awkward while for others they would not so feel. So, if the "period" is not enough for some people to fully grasp the meaning of the speakers, then a strong or clear word "menstruation" may need to use, and the occasions or objects (subjects) of the talking will not be unchangeable.so Here I will chose "period discomfort" for my translations while for "menstruation" I think there would be some occasions or places appociate for it use in some other projects.

Many thanks to all of your good comments and suggestions.

menstruation discomfort

I think "生理期" might be referring to "menstruation" here.

Should be \"menstrual discomfort\".

\"而这一句好象要加上Physiological,甚至不要“期”—“Period”?\"
Sorry, but I think you might have misunderstood the meaning of \"period\" here.

Definition of \"period\" in this context:
the monthly discharge of blood from the uterus of nonpregnant women from puberty to menopause

To me, 生理期 simply means \"menstruation\" and 更年期 is what we called \"menopause\". I don\'t think women would feel awkward when these two words are being mentioned (and if they do, they\'re just not comfortable with their own body and their own WOMANHOOD!). I don\'t see why they should be taboo words.

dysmenorrhea / difficult periods

"Dysmenorrhea" is the technical term. Sorry, guys, but none of the suggestions given previously are correct native English usage. I realize they are used in Asia, but that doesn't make them native English. They're *close* but this is an area where a slight error will make the translation laughable. Words like this are quite sensitive in the West so extra care is needed with their use.

If you want to avoid the technical jargon, then we say "difficult periods" because this covers many aspects: cramps, bloating/water retention, irritability, headaches, etc. "Pain" covers only cramping. This product seems to be claiming to "regulate the female hormonal cycle and ease the discomfort of difficult periods." Also, "difficult periods" is neutral enough that it doesn't embarass anyone.

Denyce\'s \"menstrual discomfort\" is acceptable (didn\'t see it the first time around).
Peer comment(s):

neutral Denyce Seow : "Dysmenorrhea" might be too technical in this context. I must admit I've hardly heard of "difficult periods" before, though it seems to be a valid term. **I noted your point and I just wanted to reiterate.**

Please read what I wrote -- I *said* it's technical, but that to avoid jargon...(paragraph 2).
neutral Jianming Sun : Dysmenorrhea may be too strong. It means a pathological phenomenon. The 不适 here may mean a normal discomfort.
