Daoshan [when he] stayed the night [at the] thatched cottage
Since the context is talking about where he wrote it, for the phrase,
"梅白写于道山宿月草堂," I would write "written by Mei Bai when he stayed/spent the night at the Daoshan thatched cottage." There are several references to Du Fu's famous thatched cottage. "Thatched cottage" seems to be a more common translation than "hut." It's more specific and just sounds more romantic I guess. There is a Daoshan in Hubei, which apparently is where 梅白 is from. Maybe there's a connection there.
