Hi everyone,
This is from a Sudanese text. Does it mean to chew a moist stick/twig?
أجابت بعد أن بصقت كتلة لا بأس بها من لعاب مُر حيث كانت تستاك بعود رطب كسرته من أحد فروع شجرة النيم الهزيلة
Thanks!

Brushes her teeth with a damp stick
تستا ك is derived from the word مسواك which is a stick from certain trees used to brush the teeth instead of a tooth brush. It's a tradition used by the prophet Muhammad and his companions and is being used in current days by some Muslims.
So in essence this woman is cleaning/brushing her teeth with this part of the tree branch, then spits out because the taste is so bitter.
