Strähne is a strand of hair, as you probably know. On some British hairdresser sites, they charge for colour slices and and explain that it is colouring a quarter of the hair.
By the way, I am not sure you picked the right answer for "dips". Dips, in relation with hair, are normally paraffin dips to remove the hair. It's dipping the hair into something. Could it be the equivalent of a hair mask?
