The "ou" appears to be an inclusive "or", i.e. "digest format" and "A5 format" are the same :

Do "séparé ou baton" refer to paper or to printed characters? If the latter, "bâton" is "sans sérif". Maybe "séparé" means "lettres d'imprimeur", as opposed to the "jointif" characters sometimes used in these days of electronic printing.
