Glossary entry (derived from question below)
Spanish term or phrase:
Malparida
English translation:
(worthless) piece of shit / piece of trash
Spanish term
Malparida
2024. Spain. Young people. Lower class.
He has already called her a perra (bitch).
Next insult: malparida
A major problem when translating vulgar insults is that most are gender-specific, and used for men. We don't have many vulgar insults for women, especially if we don't want to insinuate that they are loose (slut) or prostitutes (whore). Most vulgar insults are used for men.

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.
How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:
An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)
A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).
Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.
When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.
* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

'Useless/worthless piece of shit' would be pretty 'international', I reckon.

Not for a female. Scumbag. I don't see it. (At least in US English, used exclusively, or almost, for males) |

: strange how no one, thinking one-dimensionally or as an 'Artist formerly known as the Best' has thought to check the ProZ glossaries first www.proz.com/kudoz/spanish-to-english/poetry-literature/748...

Thanks Adrian, some interesting answers there, but that's perra malparida, not malparida a secas so maybe doesn't fit the bill

I used to hear cunt quite often in Glasgow, but cow would be a milder version. I think "fucking cow" is a rather authentic option.
I think vulgarity is necessary here, and "cow", at least in US English, would imply that she's overweight. In this case, she's not. |
