Continue to check the woman and baby’s condition to monitor the effect of your treatment. When the woman’s temperature returns to normal, you can be confident the treatment is working. Re-evaluate her if her fever is still present two days after starting antibiotics. The woman should have her baby as soon as possible. Continue treating the woman with antibiotics until she has no more fever, foul-smelling vaginal discharge, or uterine tenderness for 48 hours.
