Spanish term

un enjambre de adversidades estalló

Spanish to English Other Poetry & Literature Literature.
I would like to know the best translation of this phrase from Latin American Spanish into American English.

Translator colleagues from Spain, feel free to send me your suggestions as well. This is a translation about Mythology. It's about the story of "The Pandora Box"
Is okay to translate as"a swarm of adversities exploded"

I hope that all of you are healthy and safe from The Covid19 Pandemic.

Here is the full paragraph for the review:

Sin embargo, la curiosidad de Pandora se apoderó de ella; tomó la caja y tiró de los cordones desatando los nudos. Para su sorpresa, cuando levantó la pesada tapa, un enjambre de adversidades estalló desde la caja: la enfermedad, la envidia, la vanidad, el engaño y otros males volaron fuera de la caja en forma de polillas.

Example sentence:

Evils swarmed out irreparably – Zeus had given the box to her to avenge the betrayal of Prometheus, who had stolen the fire of the gods and ...

A host of evil beings exploded from the box

Enjambre is used, I think, because they use polillas, but it will depend on the word you choose to represent polillas if it is indeed dragonflies or fairies, pixies, sprites. "A host of" is a more generic expression that would fit well with "evil", and beings, again generic, would give you room for further description of the creatures.
