Espero que puedan ayudarme con una expresión al español: “Ultrasound Frontend”, relacionada con la placa analógica de un monitor materno-fetal. Muchas gracias:

@Giovanni Creo que estas referencias (analógica, digital, de radiofrecuencia (2), en el plano de computación, antenas/transmisión), dejan claro que es un front-end y cual es su función.

El factor común en todas ellas es manejo, procesamiento y acondicionamiento de la señal que va a ser utilizada en circuitos subsiguientes. Front-end, en el contexto, no tiene que ver con 'frente' sino con las funciones que realiza, principales, para el correcto funcionamiento del equipo; "extremo frontal" como principal, como el primer circuito, el que marca pauta para crear las señales necesarias para uso posterior; el mismo texto a traducir dice de que se encarga ese front end, y coincide con la definición que te ofrezco.

Lo vi como titulo (el source term) de la definicion del contexto que suministraste. Por lo tanto, hice una traduccion literal ya que en el contexto esta la explicacion de dicho titulo. Espero te ayude.

Queda claro con esto que la mejor traducción para "front-end" en el contexto del equipo de monitoreo, es la que propone el diccionario: "frontal". Dado que este módulo o bloque vincula el transductor con el resto de la electrónica del monitor.

"Módulo frontal" es una expresión común en electrónica. También "bloque frontal". Ambos pueden hacer referencia a agrupamientos físicos o lógicos.

Un ejemplo de uso, entre muchísimos más:

"Este programa para ordenador, en conjunción con una tarjeta de sonido y un simple módulo frontal (front-end) de alta frecuencia, crea un excepcional receptor de onda corta para todos los modos de transmisión, desde AM a SSB."
