English term

aluminium tube

Non-PRO English Other General / Conversation / Greetings / Letters aluminium tube
People seem to have this don't-care attitude. they don't apply the same rules on the ground as what they do in the air. I always wondered why,
because that aluminium tube is very restrictive.

An air hostess talking about the people manners on the planes.

What "aluminium tube" stands for in this context?

Thanks in advance,

the plane

think she must be joking about it by calling it an "aluminium tube" as the plane is restrictive to movements

agree Kiet Bach : It is quite obvious. Airplanes are made of aluminium (aluminum).

agree Tony M : Yes, the fuselage of a plane looks like a tube, and is made of an aluminium alloy. If this is still a period piece, then in those days they are even very often silver-coloured too, as the modern habit of painting them was not widespread in the early days.
