Hi colleagues,
I need to translate a Statement from the Hospital das Clínicas (São Paulo) certifying that a medical graduate finished his "Programa de Complementação Especializada no Serviço Cirurgia Refrativa". I am not sure how to translate "Programa de Complementação Especializada" to American English. There are a few terms that come to mind, but I don't know which is the most appropriate in this case, some suggestions: 'Residency', 'Internship', 'Clerkship', 'Training' or translate it literally, that is, 'Specialized Complementary Program'?
Thanks in advance!
Thaise

"We provide education to support specialty training and continuing professional development (CPD) for physicians and other health care professionals throughout their careers." - http://www.rcpe.ac.uk/careers-training/specialty-training-gu...
Note: To the best of my knowledge, the first term phrase is more widely used in the US. The second one seems to be British.
