Los estudios geológicos, geofísicos y demás utilizados para inferir la posible existencia del Campo o Yacimiento Compartido y, en su caso, la información obtenida de la perforación de Pozos mediante la cual se obtuvo evidencia de que el Campo o Yacimiento de que se trate excede los límites del Área de Asignación o Área Contractual. Dichos estudios pueden ser los siguientes:
a) Registros geofísicos y de sísmica;

In seismic investigation, a very important tool in searching for oil deposits, a signal is generated at the surface, and is transmitted down into the subsurface. That signal is reflected back to a receiver at the surface, with a now known 2-way travel time. The subsurface reflector would be at a point where conditions change - maybe from loose surface sediments to more dense sandstone rock, or where porous rock with no fluid in the pores transitions to a zone where water - or oil - fills the pores. The problem in seismic interpretation is to convert the 2-way travel time time data to depth below surface. This is done with a lot of very complicated computations & correlations. This is pretty much the entire business of a number of specialty firms, touting their proprietary software & their experience in interpretation.
In addition to the seismic data itself, any other available information that will make the interpretation more reliable is put to use: boring logs, data on density, porosity or other parameters from down-hole tools used in the borings. Typically, all the available information is shown all together on a cross-sectional view that shows the interpreted subsurface on a hypothetical vertical plane. It shows the changes in materials with depth, faults, & usually has any well or boring logs superimposed. So, d. would read something like: d. Seismic sections with correlation and logs shown in time and depth,... "Registro" is typically used for all types of well & boring logs.
