CONTEXT: Ces gaines d'un usage courant pour les miroirs usuels, semblent avoir fait place à des écrins d'une tout autre espèce pour les miroirs de prix. Aucune représentation n'en subsiste sur les monuments, mais les musées de Florence et du Caire en possèdent chacun un exemplaire, provenant l'un et l'autre d'un mobilier funéraire de la fin de la deuxième époque thébaine. L'exemplaire de Florence (fig. M), publié par Champollion et par Rosellini, est un écrin en bois épousant approximativement la forme d'un miroir du type GLYPH et muni d'un ***couvercle plat à pivot***.
