@Kitty Hi. your last entry is spot-on, I think. Would you please post it? I like everything about it, it's classic and still in use.

About "nietszeggendheid", I think these phrases are actually quite important idiomatically (in Dutch), since they are used as "short-hand" by nurses. In any case, I will include a clarification of the condition.

"OK, now, let's get these wayward warriors clean and ready" one of the nurses says in an as yet unwritten book. Great thanks!

Dutch term (edited): standvastige strijders

wayward warriors

This would be one way of putting it, taking into account the definition (see http://tinyurl.com/gv48w7y) as well as sticking to the use of alliteration as per the source term.

Thanks!
agree Barend van Zadelhoff : As far as I am concerned this one feels good. I am inclined to disagree with crucifers (also: 'kranig' is missing) and I am not sure about 'freethinking mavericks' but it may be acceptable.

neutral Michael Beijer : what's the use of providing refs to show people where my quotes came from? I just grabbed them at random. I'd much rather hear what you think of my actual suggestion, "quarrelsome combatants".
