French term
juste, justesse
French to English
Art/Literary
performing arts
Words used to define the interpretation of stage performers.
It often implies the idea of a performance that is appropriate, honest, true, subtle, sensitive - but remains vague enough that I find no suitable English term. The French does not contain the English idea of "fair" as in justice.
"Il est assez juste pour susciter l'intérêt de chorégraphes comme[...]"
"Admirablement belle parce que toujours juste [...]"

It's the only generic praise for performance I can think of that works in both sample sentences and maintains the level of vagueness needed. The donatative meaning isn't the same as "juste", but it might be a good equivalent functionally.
Comment: "the French are often used as opposites to expressive, in the same way "subtle" might"

true/faithful to the text
Just an idea. 'True/faithful to the text' may be taking the idea a bit far though.
'Well-executed'?
They don't work for 'juste/justesse' but might fit for the quotes.
'appropriate, honest, true, subtle, sensitive' - almost 'fits the bill', but that's no good, really.
Not great, but hey.
Back to the mulled wine :)

l'idée de "juste performance" fait également penser que l'interprète ne force pas son jeu, ne caricature pas son interprétation du personnage. Ce qui revient à dire que l'on y croit, que l'interprète devient son personnage. On pourrait donc essayer de traduire par:
"We believed enough so that choregraphers..."
"Remarkably beautiful because we believed..."
"We believed enough so that choregraphers..."
"Remarkably beautiful because we believed..."
Something went wrong...
