tensioning through controlled bolt torquing
Controlled bolt torquing is the most common method for developing a certain level of bolt tension

cccccccccccccccccccccccccccc
A controlled bolt torquing procedure with A307 B bolting might possibly seal a spiral wound gasket without cracking cast iron flange

Tensioning is the direct axial stretching of the bolt to achieve preload. Inaccuracies created through friction are eliminated. Massive mechanical effort to create torque is replaced with simple hydraulic pressure. A uniform load can be applied by tensioning multiple studs simultaneously.

There is a difference between tightening and tensioning. Tensioning puts the bolt under tension like a stretched spring:
Torque is simply a measure of the twisting force required to spin the nut up along the threads of a bolt, whereas tension is the stretch or elongation of a bolt that provides the clamping force of a joint.

Staram się zrozumieć naszą różnicę zdań i nie mam problemu z usunięciem mojej odpowiedzi.
And to make myself clear. Nie proponowałem usunięcia propozycji (it is not proper..). Nie wiedziałem, jak zareagować. Teraz wiem: nie zgadam się z nią.
In fact, the bolt is in tension. It is the joint that is in compression:
the tension force on the bolt (Fb) is equal to the compression force on the joint (Fj), which is equivalent to the preload (Fp).

cccccccccccccccccccccccccc
Using the torque-control method, the fastener preload, and thus the clamp force on the joint, can vary by as much as ±35 percent. The main cause of this imprecision is that only a small portion of the applied torque is actually used to produce fastener preload.
http://www.assemblymag.com/articles/83455-the-torque-control...
Torque is the force applied to rotate the fastener into the joint. As the joint comes together, several events take place simultaneously:
The amount of torque needed to continue rotation increases;
The fastener starts to stretch under a tensile force, also known as the preload; and
The joint is squeezed together with an opposing clamp force.
Due to this relationship, the total amount of clamp force on the joint is equal to the preload of all fasteners placed within it.
There are many different ways of expressing this in technical literature:
Controlled Bolt Tightening
https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&c...
Controlled tightening
Tension Control bolting
Each of these terms has its own nuance and use. It would not be proper to call them wrong or demand their retraction.
Preload is the tension created in a fastener when it is tightened. This tensile force in the bolt creates a compressive force in the bolted joint known as clamp force.
