This is about checking the plausibility of results from a personality questionnaire for employees:

Obwohl bei der Betrachtung einzelner Items ihre eingeschränkte Reliabilität in Rechnung zu stellen ist, können die Antworten auch bei weniger extremen Normwerten zum einen genutzt werden, um die Plausibilität zu prüfen und zum anderen um wertvolle Hinweise für die Interpretation zu liefern. Bei Normwerten im mittleren Bereich kann zum Beispiel anhandder Itemantworten überprüft werden, ob die mittlere Ausprägung **auf einer häufigen mittleren Zustimmung** zu den entsprechenden Items basiert oder ob in die Berechnung des Faktoren-Mittelwertes vor allem hohe und geringe Itemrohwerte eingeflossen sind.

I don't think "general agreement" is quite specific enough here, since I assume we are talking about questions that are answered using a scale of the sort "strongly disagree / somewhat disagree / neither agree or disagree / somewhat agree / strongly agree" and that "mittlere Zustimmung" refers to answers in the middle of this range rather than at the extreme ends. (And to be pernickety, "häufig" is an adjective here, not an adverb.)

whether the average (manifestation) frequently reflects a general agreement with the pertinent item, or whether high or low extremes flow into the averaging calculations
