Italian term
ponte di stampa
Italian to English
Tech/Engineering
Printing & Publishing
Printer/plotter
This term appears in the installation manual of a large scale laser-jet printer (I think it is used to print blueprints)):
The "ponte di stampa" looks like a "bridge" that spans the printing area. My tentative translation is "printing head." Is there a different term?
All suggestions are welcome.

Looks like you got it.
This comes from the description of a screen printing machine.

'Printing haed [sic] and printing bridge
The printing bridge, driven by the main motor, slides along chrome shafts of our design by means of smooth running sleeves. It grants extremely even and vibration-free movements regardless of the working speed.'

Thank you Barbara. This seems pertinent. |
Barbara: if you enter it as an answer, I can put it in the glossary. |
Discussion
NB It's irrelevant here, but if you were dealing with rotogravure printing, the "bridge" would be altogether another thing.
