Spanish to English Bus/Financial Economics

This is an academic article in the field of economics (not my forte) which deals with the calculation of interest rates for FRAs. They talk about "intereses simples" in other parts of the paper, but here I think they may be talking about something else (but maybe not, the math is a bit over my head). From a Spanish text translated into British English. Right now I have the literal "simple capitalisation", but I haven't found much to back that up...

Here´s some context.

Si detenemos la inversión en el momento [symbol] y la prorrogamos hasta el momento [symbol] a un tipo de interés a determinar de manera que el valor final obtenido sea [symbol] , debemos calcular el tipo de interés [symbol] en capitalización simple que proporciona el mencionado [symbol] valor final durante el tiempo [symbol].
