French term

Ramification

French to English Other Tourism & Travel Walking tourism, chapel feature

I've had a dig around the internet, but can find nothing for this term in English or in French.

Thanks!

philgoddard Oct 30, 2014:
Touraille means kiln. There are mistakes in the text, so the capital T could be one of them.
Tony M Oct 30, 2014:
More info... 'A vos serpes' and 'Touraille' appear to be localities not far from Flobecq, mentioned a lot in connection with bike routes; is your document perhaps about biking? That might explain a lot...
philgoddard Oct 30, 2014:
You have Google Street View if you have the internet.
Conor McAuley (asker) Oct 30, 2014:
Hi Tony, interesting feedback, but I would rule out a typo or auto-correct because the word has a capital letter at the start. (There is also Rameau, who was a famous figure in France with this and that named after him.)
The location is Flobecq, Belgium.
If someone has Google Streetview, I suppose one could find the address of the chapel and do a workaround that way...
Tony M Oct 30, 2014:
Nothing? It certain has a meaning in botany, where the specialist term is 'ramification', or in lay language, 'branching'.

I assume it means it is in some way decorated with branches, foliage, etc. — bear in mind Rameaux; and also, I suppose, the possibility that it could conceivably be some kind of typo.

It would of course help to know where this chapel is actually located?

Do you know what "A vos serpes" is? Sounds like the name of a lieu-dit, for example?

See discussion (also reproduced here). As Tony says, it's up to you to decide between branches, branching, tree design, etc..

Well, now Alison has kindly found it for you, it only remains how you choose to describe it.
