Hello to all,
I need help with the phrase "favorecer la deposición de los arrastres". The context is rivers and riverbeds.
The phrase is "El trazado en planta debe dar una sinuosidad adecuada al cauce ordinario y al canal de estiaje para que puedan disipar el exceso de energía, favorecer la deposición de los arrastres y ser estables a largo plazo"
My attempt is: The ground layout must give the ordinary riverbed and the low water channel an adequate sinuosity, so that they can dissipate excess energy, favour deposition of *** and be stable in the long term.

Discussion
Heavy rain promotes sedimentation in a river, it leads to sedimentation in a river, other ways of saying the same thing, but it does not "support" it.
People will always know what you mean, so I wouldn't worry too much. But if you get everything else perfect, seemingly trivial details start to stand out.
