"A powder coat is an electrostatically applied melted-in covering and finish. The item to be coated is first sandblasted until it is perfectly clean. The item is then electrostatically charged to attract and hold dry coating powder. The item is then heated to melt the powder and fuses it to the item. The dry powder process is more efficient and the result is more effective than liquid paint or laquer applied with a spray gun, roller or brush. Unlike when painting with liquid paints which use solvents, during powder coating no chemicals are released into the air. Powder coating is a "green" technology, both in production and in enhanced protection of the finished product."
