machine in cycle start position
The question may refer either to several machines in line connected to one cycle or, more probably, to a machine cycle. That cycle starts, acts and restatrs again after finishing the cylce.
Prcessing time variations: The cycle time is the time required for a single operation.
:
Synchronous line: A production line, where cycle time is deterministic and identical, and operations start and stops together.

The machine cycle is programmed for fully automatic sequencing from drilling feed and speed to countersinking feed, speed, and dwell time, then tapping cycles.

12.7 Single-Station Automated Cells
The single-station automated cell consists of a fully automated machine that can operate unattended for a time period longer than one machine cycle.

Machine time (unten jikan): The time from machine cycle start switch on, through processing, to the machine then returning to it’s original starting position, during which time there is no hands-on work by the operator.

Referring again to FIG. 3, the next section of the process configuration screen 124 allows the operator to enter the cycle start, stop, abort and delta deadband information. Here, the operator enters the starting and ending PLC addresses for the cycle time along with the off/on condition for the cycle start, stop, and abort configurations.

... both the ifrard sensoer an teh location sensor must be satisfied in order to energize a mechanical relay to send a cycle start signal to the machine.
:
The two-hand operating lever, trip, or control device shall require concurrent actuation of both of the operating levers or hand controls to initiate a machine cycle.

Machine cycle start is caused by simple pressing of two “start” buttons (to be pressed at same time) placed on machine base.

: Yes, my understanding is that it stops the machine and puts if back to the start position, thus allowing safe opening of the door.

That's what I thought, too! Thanks!

French term (edited):
en origine de cycle
at the beginning of the cycle
So, for "permet l'arrêt du cycle continu de la machine en origine de cycle," perhaps something like "allows stopping the machine's continuous cycle at the beginning of the cycle" – which might be shortened, perhaps, to "stops/interrupts the machine's operation at the beginning of the cycle."

Or maybe rephrase:
"The [illuminated] button can be pressed at the beginning of the cycle to stop the machine's continuous operation."

: I don't think it means you can only press it at the beginning (otherwise, how can you stop it later?) — I think JG has it right, it stops the machine and moves it back to the start position. 'arrêt en XXX' is often used in this sort of way in FR.

In fact my thought was that the cycle cannot be stopped later. But that could be wrong. ;-)

: What about "origine de cycle"?

: 'en origine' hardly indicates 'to restart'
